Painter, cancer survivor and musician Colleen Gnos has been an artist since the age of 4. After being classically trained in Italy, she returned home to paint her own classic themes from Odyssean mermaids to classical jazz inspired compositions. She paints with a combination of tonal painting and glazing, while integrating mixed materials and using uncommon tools on unique surfaces to make marks that are expressive and abstract. She believes an artist should never stop experimenting and learning new approaches, whether one is painting on a barn 65’ in the air or on a 65” canvas in her own studio. She finds balance and inspiration from her family, music and surfing.
