Why the Universe Does NOT Have Your Back

By A Mystery Man Writer

If you’ve hung around in any kind of metaphysical, New-Agey, woo-woo circles, you’ve probably heard the saying, “The universe has your back.” And if you’ve been following me for any length of time, you know I have repeated the very same words. But the saying isn’t true…not really. When someone says, “The universe has your back,” they mean you can trust that the Universe, like a dependable friend, will stand up for you and help you when necessary. It’s there, right behind your shoulder, looking out for you. If you fall, and it’s ready to catch you. Well, that’s not totally correct. This past week I heard something contradictory that rang true for me. I was told, “The Universe only has your back if you have your back.” Read that again. I’ve often written and spoken about how everything around us is a mirror of what you think, feel, and do. The Universe reflects everything about you 100 percent of the time. If you want to know what you are thinking, feeling, doing, and creating, just look at your life. Therefore, it makes total sense that if you have your back, the Universe reflects that to you as well. If you don’t have your back, don’t expect the Universe to have it for you. You can trust the Universe to show up for you to the same extent you show up for yourself.
