Colts add new twist to United Way giving - Early Learning Indiana

By A Mystery Man Writer

If you missed the United Way of Central Indiana kickoff on Monument Circle on Friday, you might not have heard the big news announcement from the Colts. Day Nursery was on hand at Friday's event along with many other Indianapolis area not for profits to reach out to the community to meet new supporters and volunteers and share what services we have to offer. Day Nursery staffers know there is a great need for assistance in our community judging by the calls we get for our tuition assistance program. Another indication of local human need is growth in calls to Connect2Help's 2-1-1 telephone information and referral line. During the first eight months of the year, those calls have risen 13 percent  compared to last year with the top five reported needs being utility assistance, food, rent, shelter and low-cost/subsidized housing. So you can see the need is great. This year's United Way of Central Indiana annual campaign is aimed at broadening community support for sustaining vital human services and programs to help children succeed in school and beyond.
